The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights made a bold statement at the opening of the 33rd session of the Human Rights Council. This session marked the beginning of the second decade of the Human Rights Council
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world.
There is no reason for optimism however; in the draft Agreed Conclusions of CSW 2016, it says that no country has yet achieved gender equality.
